Cost of college went up for all students at Hopkinsville Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 4.1 percent for 2018-19 at Hopkinsville Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Kentucky residents paid $4,248 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $168 more than the $4,080 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 239 percent more than residents this year, or $14,400. Their price tag grew 4.3 percent from $13,800 in 2017-18.

About 82 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Kentucky residents. And about 18 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 99 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 142 students received grants or scholarships totaling $768,650 and 25 students took out student loans totaling more than $97,722.

Including all undergraduates (2,748), 2,211 students used grants or scholarships totaling $8.4 million, and 501 students took out $2.6 million in federal student loans.
