THE CITY OF HOPKINSVILLE

911 / EMERGENCY TELECOMMUNICATOR

$28,552 Starting Salary 

Operate multi-line phone system, answer 911 emergency telephone calls, and dispatch calls to responding field units. Must have high school diploma or equivalent, be 18 years of age or older, type 35 WPM, possess strong verbal/written skills, & multi-task in a high stress environment.  Applicants are subject to a background investigation, suitability screening test, polygraph, drug test and successfully complete a 5 week training course at the Dept. of Criminal Justice Training/Eastern KY University in Richmond, KY.  Prior public safety training/experience desired. 

Excellent benefits include health, dental, vision, & life insurance. 12 paid vacation days, 12 paid sick days, and 11 paid holidays per year are offered. Shift schedule rotates day/evening shifts including weekends and holidays.

Public Safety Officer (Non-Sworn)

$30,406 Starting Salary 

The Police Public Safety Officer is a non-sworn position responsible for performing non-hazardous and non-emergency calls for service and assisting

police officers with routine duties. Handles crowd control at parades, street fairs, sports events, and other special events. May also be called to testify in court, assist citizens and monitor parking lots for parking violators. 

Minimum qualifications include graduate of an accredited high school or GED. Will be required to attend and must successfully complete 120 hours of appropriate training certified by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council. Requires evening and weekend hours of work. A physical agility test will be conducted on Saturday, January 18th and applicants will be notified of location and time of event after job advertisement deadline.

Critical Care Paramedic, Paramedic, AEMT, EMT

$34,490-$47,718 salary range

(Pay based on previous EMS experience and provider level)

The Hopkinsville Fire Department is currently accepting applications for the positions of Critical Care Paramedic, Paramedic, Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, and Emergency Medical Technician.

These positions have the primary responsibility of delivering high quality ALS/BLS patient care to patients treated and transported by Hopkinsville Fire Department’s EMS Division. All positions require a high school diploma or GED, CPR certification, driver’s license, be licensed/certified by Kentucky Board of EMS OR currently registered with National Registry of EMTs.  Individuals must be able to move/lift over 100 lbs. on a regular basis. 

Shift schedule is 24 hours on/48 hours off, Monday-Sunday. Excellent benefits include health, dental, vision, & life insurance. 7 paid vacation days, 12 paid sick days, and 8 paid floating holidays per year are offered.  These are non-hazardous positions for County Employee Retirement System (CERS) purposes.
