GREATER LOUISVILLE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: Gli Voices support for one park and economic development in greater louisville

Economia digital

Greater Louisville Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Sept.27

The Greater Louisville business community is throwing its full support behind One Park, a transformational economic and housing development that will highlight our region’s business competitiveness and help attract new residents. “This $250 million project will bring jobs, more housing opportunities, and new tax revenues to Louisville,” GLI wrote to the Louisville Planning Commission and Metro Council in a recent letter ahead of a public hearing scheduled for September 30.

One Park is an economic and housing development proposed for an underutilized site at the crossroads of Lexington Road and Grinstead Drive. Sitting at the gateway to key areas such as Downtown Louisville, NuLu, and the Highlands for visitors entering the city from Interstate 64, One Park presents a powerful opportunity to showcase our region’s growth and vibrancy. Situated immediately adjacent to Cherokee Park, One Park would also provide new access to more housing options in one of the most desirable locations in the Greater Louisville region.

“Urban infill projects like this one do not come along often. As a community, we must have the foresight to take advantage of these opportunities so we can compete and grow against our peer and regional competitors. This area is an important connector and gateway to several parts of town, yet its current unplanned nature is holding our city back. With One Park positioned between two major roads and yards away from a major interstate highway, this is a prime location for infill.” — GLI’s letter to Louisville Planning Commission and Metro Council

A key takeaway from recent GLI-led trips to Indianapolis and San Francisco as well as research for our Live in Lou talent attraction initiative is the importance of walkable, mixed use projects. These types of projects are critical for growth and attracting new businesses and talent. With One Park, we can position our region to meet market demands, promote more housing and walkable communities, and get the attention of site selectors.

GLI strongly urges members of the business community to voice their support for One Park. Try out our easy-to-use contact tool to express your support for One Park to members of the Louisville Planning Commission and Metro Council.
